Hi. I have a friend (equity analyst) with 7-8 yrs of experience (no MBA ) fretting about his $200k base. He told me that the bonus is usually anywhere between 50-100%. I don't know much about LO, so is he right to be upset?

My base is 150k and I'm class of '21 (undergrad). Did sell-side for a year before making the switch last summer for what it's worth. Pretty sure I'm getting raised 5-10% this year on base so could be a bit low? That said my bonus is only ~33% of base so his total comp is way higher than mine. I haven't a clue in the world as to what people in this industry get paid. I know it varies, but some other datapoints would really be helpful for all of us juniors on this forum because we're clueless haha
So many variables that would drive this number up or down. Painting in broad strokes $400k at a small/mid sized shop seems like market.
Post-MBA roles generally start at $300k TC at large LOs for context.
Location is a big factor. A total package of 300-400k sounds reasonable to me for a 7-year non-MBA/ CFA at a non-NYC city.
