How to efficiently put down boundaries when networking with men?

My partner and I are both in finance. He is a few years older than me, went through through the recruiting process during covid and was really struggling to find work for over a year. At the same time I started networking, fresh into finance with no related background, and got in contact with a IB VP at a BB who I had a call with. He started telling me about sunsets and champagne from the bank's rooftop, a few weeks after he invited me for lunch, when I kindly declined he followed up with explaining how I was new to finance and this was completely normal. I did not respond and two weeks later he message me out of the blue asking if I'd be interested in an internship in IB at his bank. I didn't respond. My partner (who has a way better background than me) was interested in seeing what would happen if he reached out to the same VP. He got a call, but ended up ghosted by the VP. I've networked with a bunch of great people, though the large chunk of questionable behavior from networking contacts while looking for internships just sucks.I'm soon going into recruitment season again. How do I efficiently put down boundaries when networking?
