New AI based vulnerability to all social networks exposed

Tonight my Facebook feed was flooded with people posting that their accounts got hacked with various warnings. After digging into it for a few minutes I figured out their angle and the HUGE vulnerability that AI chat has opened up. The basic scam, which has been around for over a year, is that they tell you that their account has been hacked. This may be a hacked account or a clone of a real account. They then ask for help and warn that if you get sent a link, to let them know asap and to send them a screenshot of the link or copy and past the link.

I myself was a target, which is no surprise since my feed is suddenly (more on that later) full of these hacked accounts... I have attached screenshots, and at the surface its nothing out of the ordinary. The issue is the apparent scale at which it is suddenly happening.
Basically, after the hacked or fake account warns you, you get sent a link through METAs two factor authentication system. Clicking on it isn't the issue, but sending the hacked account or clone account that link allows them to instantly take over your social media account.

In the past this form of hacking was obviously limited to the number of people who could interact with the targets, but the sudden explosion of victims indicates that they have figured out how to use chat AI to automate the social engineering part of their hacking and nearly infinitely scale their attacks.

I'm sure the relevant people are already working on it, but this does expose a huge vulnerability in not just social media networks, but all networks. Hopefully things are secured before this can destroy entire networks.

Note: they ask "are you there" after the link is sent to you and you don't respond.

There is a chance that I'm just "lucky" and only my contacts are being currently targeted, or the wave is just now hitting my social media contacts, but the sudden explosion on my social media feed may indicate they figured out how to scale this hack using chat AI.

This is a specific instance of one of the new issues presented by AI chat that we now face, but it is definitely only a small sign of what may be to come.

(note: I attached two screenshots, but they don't seem to be showing up)
