S&T SA Transition to Full Time Buy Side Trader

Will be interning summer 2020 at a medium investment bank (think HSBC/Deutsche/ CS etc.). But eventually, I want to do trading/quant research at a top hedge fund. More info: Target school, stem, minor in real estate. Any suggestions on what skills to focus on over the summer/how to network/materials to study... essentially how to make the transition? I feel like the summer internship is not necessarily the most prestige on the street (in terms of leveraging the experience for future recruiting. Don't get me wrong tho, I'm very very grateful. Thanks in advance!

If I had to give you one piece of advice only, it would be network like hell. That will help immensely

Did you just put HSBC with the likes of Deutsche (not even going to comment on the CS comparison)? Forget the brand on your banker bag this summer, your singular job is to kill your SA stint and talk to as many people as you can around the floor.
