The Dichotomy of Networking
So on one hand... it seems like networking is only important to get your foot in the door. On the other hand, if you don't network but still get your foot in the door, then will you ever convert an offer if you haven't talked to a single person aside from interviews?

if you fail to understand the point of networking then i think you answered your own question.
networking isn't about using people, it's about connecting with people. i send update emails ~once a month to people i really clicked with this recruiting season and some are happy to see it, and others don't respond. either way you need to show that their spent time wasn't for naught
