What is the size/makeup of your project teams?

Starting at a T2 strategy firm in a few months as an associate out of UG.

I know this answer will vary from project to project and firm to firm but would love to get an idea of what your team makeup looks like.

How many Directors/Principles, Project Managers, Consultants, Associates, etc. furthermore, what is expected of each role and how can one successfully go above and beyond as a new hire?

Any input/advice is welcome.
Thanks in advance!

1) Practice Manager /Director (x1)

2) Project Sponsor (x1)

3) Project Manager (up to x3)

4) Team Leads / SMEs (xx depending on the scope)

5) Consultants (xx depending on the scope again)

6) Associates (as many as you can throw at the project so long as you don't have to go back and redo their work and waste hours)

Coming in as an associate, put in your time and do your work correctly so that your seniors don't have to correct and explain your work. Otherwise you wind up in the dreaded personal improvement plan which is a quiet way to say we'll still keep paying you but start looking for a new position. You do it right and show the effort and that you've already measured twice before cutting once that'll go far.

Oh, and scale up your Excel and PPT skills. Word skills is good to have too. Work on your relationship management skills so they don't fear letting you loose in a conference room with the client since as an associate you're probably going to be there to help gather project requirements. Especially if you want to climb the ladder.
